AlbaNova lies on the north slope of Albano hill, close to Roslagstull. AlbaNova can be approached from two directions: from the south (main entrance) or from the north. From the south, approach AlbaNova either from Valhallavägen via Körsbärsvägen and Ruddammsvägen, by footpaths and cycle paths from the KTH main campus, or from Roslagstull via Roslagstullsbacken. From the north, reach AlbaNova from Roslagsvägen at Kräftriket, through the Albano industrial estate. Car traffic and goods deliveries may only use the northern approach route.

The north and south entrances are linked by a road which is only accessible by staff with an access card.

Getting to AlbaNova on foot

From Tekniska högskolan underground station's 'Körsbärsvägen' exit, at the junction/corner of Valhallavägen and Odengatan, there are three walking routes to AlbaNova. All three take between 10 and 20 minutes depending on how leisurely you take it.

The first route: go up Körsbärsvägen past the yellow-brick Arcadia Hotel, then take Ruddammsvägen to the right. Follow Ruddammsvägen until the road ends in a roundabout, at the entrance to the AlbaNova grounds.

Alternatively, follow Körsbärsvägen all the way up to the top of the hill, then zigzag down through the residential area to Ruddammsbacken. Continue down past Körsbärsgården to the roundabout and the entrance to AlbaNova.

Finally, you can follow Valhallavägen from Tekniska högskolan station from where it leads left towards Roslagstull. At the first roundabout you will see the fast food kiosk Tullfritt - turn right up Ruddammsbacken just behind the kiosk. Passing the tower block on your left, at the top of the hill you reach the roundabout at the entrance to AlbaNova.

If you approach from östra Station, following Valhallavägen a few hundred metres leads you to the foot of Körsbärsvägen.

If you approach from the KTH campus, follow Drottning Kristinas väg until you see the red brick Mechanical Engineering building to the right. To the left here, follow the footbridge over the railway to Ruddammsvägen, which you can then follow all the way up to the roundabout.

If you approach AlbaNova from the SU campus at Frescati, the safest route is to walk south along Roslagsvägen as far as the Kräftriket campus. Then turn in to the left on Björnnäsvägen and immediately right onto the slip road that runs parallel to Roslagsvägen. After 200m, turn left into the Albano industrial estate, and up to the north entrance to the main building, address Roslagsvägen 30D. The walk from Frescati takes at least 20 minutes. The road from Frescati through Lill-Jansskogen has in places no pavement/sidewalk and is not recommended.

The AlbaNova campus contains a number of buildings, set in parkland. Unless you have received other instructions, you should probably aim for the main building. It is a 200-metre long white building on the north edge of the campus - if you come from Ruddammsvägen you will see the main entrance into the rotunda at the end of the gravel approach road. The main building's address is Roslagstullsbacken 21. The reception is located about 30 metres to the left, just inside the entrance hall.

Getting to AlbaNova by cycle

In addition to the road routes to AlbaNova, two bridges for cycles and pedestrians lead to AlbaNova from the KTH campus.

One bridge goes over the Roslagsbanan railway line behind the Q buildings, Drottning Kristinas väg 53. The bridge leads to Ruddammsvägen, which you can follow all the way to the roundabout at the end, and the entrance to the AlbaNova campus.

The other bridge leads over the railway line from Drottning Kristinas väg beyond the mechanical engineering building. This bridge also leads onto Ruddammsvägen, which you can follow as above. Alternatively, follow the slip road from the end of the bridge down to the right. This route takes you to the north entrance to Albanova, and beyond to Roslagsvägen and Frescati.

Cycle parking is available at all AlbaNova's entrances. The main cycle parking is in front of the main entrance at Roslagstullsbacken 21.

Getting to AlbaNova by bus

A number of bus lines stop close to AlbaNova. The most convenient are buses 43 and 44, which share a bus stop close to the main entrance to the campus, next to the roundabout at the end of Ruddammsvägen. The stop is the terminus on each route, 'Ruddammen'.

Other lines have stops at walking distance from AlbaNova. Bus 73 stops on Valhallavägen at the foot of Roslagstullsbacken, next to the Tullfritt fast food kiosk. Bus 53's terminus is on Ingmarsgatan on the other side of Roslagstull, 5 minutes' walk from AlbaNova. Bus 40 (which also serves the University's Frescati campus and Lappis) stops just beyond the Albano industrial estate at Kräftriket, 5-10 minutes walk from the north side of the main building. The number 4 blue buses, bus 72 and night buses 94 and 96 have stops on Odengatan, 10-15 minutes' walk from AlbaNova.

Many of these bus lines have convenient connections to the underground and commuter train networks.

Getting to AlbaNova by car

There are three routes to AlbaNova for those coming by car. See also the map.

For goods deliveries and visitors with cars, we recommend the route via the Albano industrial estate. Turn off the E18 Roslagsvägen via Björnnäsvägen, opposite Kräftriket, then turn immediately right onto the feed road parallel to Roslagsvägen. Turn left halfway to the bridge and drive up through the industrial estate to the main building. Staff members and taxis may approach AlbaNova via Körsbärsvägen (access from Valhallavägen near the junction/corner with Odengatan) which continues as Ruddammsvägen as far as the roundabout at the end of AlbaNova's access road. A quicker route to the roundabout is via Roslagstullsbacken, which leaves Valhallavägen at Roslagstull, right next to the fast food kiosk Tullfritt.

There is an access road that leads from the roundabout to the parking area on the north side of the main building. This road is always closed - the barrier can only be opened by Center staff with access cards.

Vehicles are not allowed anywhere in AlbaNova's campus area south of the main building, i.e. the area between the yellow buildings. The only exceptions are vehicles with handicap permits and emergency services vehicles. Handicap parking places are available in front of most of the yellow buildings.

AlbaNova has its own vehicle parking (80 spaces) along the north side of the main building. To reach them, approach AlbaNova as above from Roslagsvägen through the Albano industrial estate, or (if you have an access card for the road barrier) from the south side and Ruddammsvägen.

The Albano industrial estate also has some parking places to the left just before the railway line. Staff parking permits are however not valid here.

Parking

Car parking for 80 vehicles is located on the north side of the main building, address Roslagsvägen 30.

Parking elsewhere on the campus is forbidden, including roads and gravelled areas to the south of the main building (among the yellow houses). Vehicles with handicap permits and emergency service vehicles are excepted.

Q-park is responsible for AlbaNova's parking spaces.

Parking fees

There is no free parking on site, except for vehicles with visible handicap permits and vehicles with service parking permits issued by Nordiska Parkering or the property owner.

Parking tickets for visitors and staff can be purchased from ticket machines around AlbaNova, on the KTH campus, and at SU's car parking areas. Many of the ticket machines accept both cards and coins.

All parking tickets, including season/period tickets, are valid for all parking areas at AlbaNova. They can also be used at Nordiska Parkering's other parking areas at Sveaplans Gymnasium and the KTH and SU campuses.

To qualify for the lower ticket price for staff, your staff parking permit/sticker must be clearly visible. Staff permits can be obtained from the reception or from Stefan Hübenette (room C5:3055, ext. 8433).

Monthly passes can be bought from the Statoil service/gas station at Frescati. A visible parking permit is still required if you have a monthly pass.

Getting to AlbaNova by underground/subway/metro

The nearest underground station is Tekniska högskolan on the red line. From the station exit marked 'Tekniska högskolan/Östra station' you can take bus 44 direct to AlbaNova. On foot, take the station exit 'Körsbärsvägen' and either take a number 43 or 44 bus or follow Körsbärsvägen up and over the hill to AlbaNova.

From stations Universitetet (red line) and Odenplan and Rådmansgatan (green line) it's a 15-30-minute walk to AlbaNova.

Getting to AlbaNova with Roslagsbanan

By the Roslagsbanan commuter train, the nearest stations are Universitetet and Östra Station. From Universitetet it's a 10-minute walk to AlbaNova, 15 minutes from Östra Station. From östra Station you can also take a number 44 bus: AlbaNova is at the terminus, Ruddammen.

Getting to AlbaNova by taxi

Reception can help visitors by ordering taxis.

Taxis may only pick up and set down at the roundabout on Roslagstullsbacken. Give the address Roslagstullsbacken 21. Taxis for handicapped persons may pick up and set down at the main entrance. Vehicles are otherwise prohibited in the grounds.

Getting to AlbaNova with goods deliveries

Deliveries should be made to the Roslagsvägen 30 B, on the north side of the main building. Approach from Roslagsvägen at Kräftriket via Björnnäsvägen and then down the slip road which runs parallel with Roslagsvägen. Turn right through the Albano industrial estate and follow the road via the level crossing to AlbaNova.
